iPHONE OFFLINE GPS for my iphone 6

Hello Guys, i´m writing to see if you guys can clear some of my doubts and can help me so i can make a decision.
My Garmin Nuvi finally gave up!! after some use and abuse, it finally gave up!! i really think it is time to "advance" with technology and get a GPS app for my iphone and use my phone as a GPS.
I´ve been reading a LOT, but there are some questions that i still have in my mind. After a lot of research i think this the best forum to get the help i need.
I currently live in Spain, so i will be using maps of Europe.
After everything i have read, i have decided that i will either get the NAVIGON app, or the GARMIN GPS STREET PILOT. I am very used to the Garmin interface and i don't want to switch to something totally different like TOMTOM or something like that.
I will enumerate the doubts i have, and hopefully you guys can respond to my questions.
I would appreciate if you could help me clear my mind about how this 2 apps work regarding the following questions.

1) are both of the apps offline apps??? if i travel to other country, will i be able to use them without using any data plan??

2)i have read everywhere that the app itself, plus the maps, can take up to 3 gb of my memory. According to the IOS APP STORE both apps, in the European version, have the maps of most of the European countries. i understand that with the purchase you get the "pack" of "ALL THOSE MAPS" . The question is, can i download ONLY the map that i need?? for example, since i live in Spain, can i download ONLY the Spain map?? and if i am going to travel to another county, download the country that i will be visiting??

3) since the device is a cell phone, i would assume that with either app, i would be able to take a phone call while using it as a gps??

4) i have my iphone connected to my car through Bluetooth in order to play music, can i still play music while using the device as a gps??

5) how do i know that neither of the 2 apps are using my data to navigate?? i just want to make sure that while i am driving, my data is only being used to receive a whatsapp messages or whatever i want. i just DON'T WANT none of my data plan to be used by the gps.. is it possible with the 2 apps?? how is the process to "prevent" the app from using my data plan??

6 )At around 60 or 70 usd, neither of the 2 apps is cheap. Can i download it in my wife's Iphone as well?? She has her own Apple ID.. if she sings in in her phone with my Apple Id to download it, and once it is downloaded in her phone, she signs back in with her own Apple Id, will the 2 apps work properly??? will she have any restrictions??

7)which of the 2 apps is better for pedestrians??

8) i assume that if i get a new iphone, all the info that i have stored about poi´s will be there when i download it again in my new device?? and i also assume that i won´t have to pay again and i can download the apps as many times as i want right??

As you guys can see, most of my questions are related to how the apps perform, because i have seen lots of videos and i have read tons of reviews and i know both apps are pretty good doing their required job. My questions are mainly about switching from a gps only unit, to using my phone as a gps
I tried to be as clear as possible so you guys can understand my questions. English is not my primary language, so i apologize for all the English mistakes that i have made.
Thank you all in advanced for taking the time to answer my questions and help me take a decision about which app to buy!!
Feel free to ask anything if you need to!!

Old TomTom One.

Hi all, new to the forum.

Years ago I managed to update the maps on an old TomTom of mine which I later dropped and smashed.

I've just bought another old TomTom One off ebay and just want to confirm that I'm going to find maps for it ok?

It's version 8.010.

Reason I'm asking is that it's not showing much on compatibility charts?

Cheers.

ANDROID Help with zoom settings please

$

Hello folks, I've recently installed Basarsoft international Nextgen on a rear view mirror Android system and I've got a zoom level issue that I cant solve. Zoom settings in sys dont seem to do anything, it just stays zoomed out too far. The strange thing is its perfect when I run a simulation, but on a real journey its too small to be usable. I've put it on a Nexus 7 too, and its more of a usable size on that, but I still cant change the zoom level.

Up until a couple of years ago I used iGO8 on a WinCE system. On that I was able to set the zoom level easily, and smartzoom worked extremely well taking me in really close when making a manoeuvre. The overview doesnt seem to work either. On iGO8 there were settings for it regarding zoom level, and how far from manoevre to go back to 3D screen.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Basic question on updating maps on 2011 Peugeot

$

Hi all
I have read through all these relevant posts a few times but still really don't understand whether it's possible or not.

i have a 2011 Peugeot 508, (no touch screen, navigation stick in the middle of the seats, moves letters on the screen, no post codes)

When I click on the software version it says 2.07.A3

I still cannot work out if I can do an upgrade by myself without needing an expert re-calibration.

Please could someone tell me yes or no, and if yes, the steps involved?

thank you!

Once maps are loaded into Mapyx Quo, they can be transferred to the MX Map Mobile. This combined solution of Mapyx Quo and MX Map Mobile, provides a comprehensive combined system of full GIS software and a Mobile Application which are fully compatible. Requires Quo v2.5.9.

What's New

- Enhancements made to the way SD card locations are determined.
- Enhancements made to route and map sync to better keep track of what tiles and routes are currently on the device.

How does one integrate "Here" maps into the VDO Dayton "Carin" format

Hi All

I am in South Africa and for the past 4 years we have had no longer map updates (discontinued) for the BMW "high" map format. These were used in the E46, E53, E39 etc BMW models.

Does anyone know how to integrate the current "Here" (BMW/MB/VW etc) maps into a the Carin format.

Looking forward to hear from the resident experts. :)

kind regards

George

WIN CE Altitude not changing in my IGO Primo 9

Dear community,

When I go to the GPS monitor menu, I can see the latitude, longitude and Altitude changing in each place I am BUT, on the navigation screen (side bar), the altitude that is shown, either is ZERO or a value that never changes until I turn off/on the ignition. If I go up the hill the lat and Long changes BUT the altitude never changes during the trip.
I already made a reset on the GPS monitor menu but doesn't changes anything. Altitude never changes ...

Is there any sys.txt command that forces altitude update?

Thank you.

Dear community,

I have a Renault Clio 2013 with OE indash nav system

(Please see after min 07:14)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIfZ2WGkqtE

It came with a licence of 30 days free updates. New maps updates costs around 100 euros each. The only free updates are firmware, NOT maps.

Can you expert identify what software is installed? and How can I manage to update it?

Here is the contempt of the USB:

Partage-Facile : Fichier navisync.rar.html

Thank you all.

Tested by me , on RNS510, but dvd way didnt work out , so i used Maps Tool which you can download from
Code:

http://christian-jeanin.ro/mapstool2.php
When the build is complete, you will find in the destination the following folders and files:

1. MAPS (folder)
2. MAPSDVD (folder)
3. test.mp3 (file)
4. sd_to_hdd_fw.iso (file)
5. help.html (file)

Copy the [1], [2] and [3] folders and files to the SD card, then insert a blank CD-R and burn the sd_to_hdd_fw.iso ISO using the slowest burn speed available.

Power on the unit and insert the SD card into it. Make sure you can hear the short test.mp3 played (that means the SD card is OK)
Restart the unit in Software Upgrade Mode by pressing SETUP + EJECT + MIC (INFO) buttons
Wait 20 seconds and insert the firmware CD-R you burnt earlier (sd_to_hdd_fw.iso)
The unit will restart and will display a message about the upgrade/copy process. Confirm upgrade and wait.
The unit will start to copy the maps from SD card to the HDD. Usually this takes ~30 mins. The copy process displays 31% complete all the time, so don’t panic, just wait ~30 mins
When the copy is complete, the unit will restart and display a success message.

Hope i help to someone, because people not really want to share it, also i will try to upload in different file sharing webpages, only my upload speed is 100kb a bit to slow
