HELP Tomtom Start 40/45 introductory post/questions

I'm planning to travel to Italy for a couple of weeks. I am currently trying to figure out how I can backup/remove my NA map and put Europe South/Italia map on the GPS since it only has 2GB of space with no SD slots. What is this NavCore that I've been reading so much about? Does my device have it? Is it the ApplicationVersionVersionNumber (9510)? I've followed the instruction and installed only MyTT v 2.7.6... on my PC. I've also updated the GPS system until there are no more updates available. To my understanding the next steps should be getting the map, and using FastActivate to patch both the map and the system. How can I put the downloaded map onto the GPS? Do i have to transfer it through MyTT or a simple copy paste to the directory will be suffice? Thanks in advance.
