Montana 600 - routing with multiple maps?

Hi all,

I have a Montana 600, it came with the Garmin GB Discover maps on SD card. These are UK Ordnance Survey raster maps with routing information. I also bought (as a download) the City Navigator Europe 2016 maps, which I downloaded from Garmin to a different SD card in my device.

I copied the Discover maps from the original SD card to the new card in the GPS, and used Garmin Image Unlocker to unlock them (they were locked to the SD card supplied). This all seems to work nicely, thanks to information from this forum! I also used ImDiskToolkit to create a virtual drive on my PC so that maps are available in BaseCamp without having to connect the GPS.

What I was trying to achieve, is the ability to easily switch between the two maps on the GPS, depending on what I'm doing - if I'm driving I want the CN map or if I'm walking I'll use the Discover.

However my Montana keeps hanging while calculating routes. For example I tried creating a route from Liverpool to Honister Pass (Lake District) and the "Calculating" box appears on the screen but never gets beyond 99%. Then trying to create a new route after that does nothing. Even turning off the unit didn't fix it, when I turned it back on, it still said "Calculating 99%". I did a factory reset which seemed to fix it.

I wondered if having two routable maps loaded on my GPS was causing the problem, even though I had the "GB Discover" map turned off and the "City Nav Euro" turned on...? As an experiment I deleted the GB Discover map from the GPS's memory card. Now routing seems to be OK.

So does anyone know, is this a problem with having more than one routable map (covering the same area) installed? If so, I was wondering, is it possible to strip out the routing info from the OS Discover map? The whole of the UK is covered by City Navigator so I don't need the OS map to be routable, but it's nice to be able to switch between different maps displayed on the screen.

Sorry this post is so long, and thanks for any advice!
