Creating and using routes w Basecamp/Nuvi 1490

I'm using Basecamp with a Nuvi 1490. Trying to get routes to work. I've created a route with several points. The route is effectively a loop to ride my motorcycle on.

When I load the route onto the Nuvi, and import it, and simulate it. The GPS basically takes me straight to the end point (instead of the start point) and terminates.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to get it to do what I'm trying?
