Hi
My mum has given me her tomtom go 720 to look at as she said it wasnt working. Having looked at it I found that it was looping when it was started up - would load the map but then after afew seconds would restart. I have found this problem before caused by an incompatible or corrupt mapsettings.cfg file so I deleted this from the map folder but same problem. I tried a complete reinstall of the system via tomtom home, which ended up at 9510, used FastActivate to patch the system files so would work with the maps but still have the same problem. I tried both running from internal HDD and SD card but no joy.
I looked around and saw the same issue mentioned which someone suggested they fixed but using a lower firmware, so I did the reinstall using TT Home again and stopped at 8.351, and the system was then stable in that it would go into the map and stay there, but wont pick up a GPS signal - the black and yellow wheel doesnt spin and no satellites show up.
The other issue with it is that the battery is pretty shot - will only last afew minutes on battery so runing from USB. I assume that if I have it plugged into the 12V then this would proivde power to the GPS as well so the battery can tbe the issue.
Anyone have any suggestions?
