I would like to start a Garmin Thread Index with actual specifications. This idea it is only possible with the help of all of us, so let me explain myself.
For example, I have read that the Oregon 7xx has the double of RAM than the Oregon 6xx, but the same Processor (I don't know if it is true). Maybe this is not important for most of the people; but Processor and RAM speeds will all affect the overall speed of a device (computers, phones, Garmin units, etc.). If one is significantly slower, then it will slow down the other.
The mapping segments limit is important too, but it is easy to get than info from the Garmin website.
So, if you want to help to build this thread, post below with reliable information about handhelds and a coded link to the source if possible. I will edit the post to summarize the information.
Ps.: If you don't like the idea or the moderators don't like the idea, feel free to delete the thread.
Ps2.: maybe links to interesting reviews too
- I would like to focus only in Handhelds: Oregon, Montana, eTrex, GPSMAP, Rino and inReach.
- Software aside, from my point of view, the performance of each device will be limited by the Processor, RAM, Built-In Memory and Antenna.
- In the Garmin website it is not possible to find information about Processor and RAM, and I don't know how to measure the power of an Antenna.
