Help please with tomtom xl series 30 1g

Hi all, before we start slatting i have read the tutorials but im still having difficulties, Im trying to get a map of france or western europe to work but every time i get a map coppied to my tomtom i get a message saying `you cannot use this map on this device` can anyone point me to the right map version for my tomtom please.

do i need to enter the meta manually somewhere as i get no confirmation on fastactivate it just returns to the menu when updating meta.data
