Help needed with TT XL IQ Routes2

Hi all,
My first post so be gentle with me... ;)

I would like to update my TT mentioned in the title.
I´ve been reading those tutorials and almost everything is clear except two things:

My devices internal memory is only 2GB but the map I need is 3.16GB. (Europe v965.7250)
Am I able to drop out parts of the map that I won´t need?
For example next summer will be travelling in France and baltic states, so I need whole europe but could drop out UK,Spain, and other "big" countries to squeeze the file under 2 gb.

Also what the heck is meta files and do I need them?
